About the position

Castle Island Brewing Company is seeking a part-time Communication & Design Specialist to enhance our mission of making beer fun, accessible, and excellent. This role is pivotal in driving the company’s sales, customer service, and brand excitement. The Communications & Design Specialist will report directly to the Director of Sales and Marketing and will be responsible for managing various communication channels, generating content, and overseeing graphic design efforts. This position requires a high degree of independence, creativity, and strong communication skills, as well as a commitment to following through on tasks. The role also involves regular travel between multiple company locations and may require occasional availability on nights and weekends. The ideal candidate will implement marketing strategies that align with our brand values and business objectives. Responsibilities include managing social media community interactions, attending taproom and market events to create engaging content, and maintaining updated events calendars on our social media and website. The specialist will also support taproom teams with event marketing and in-store communications, manage the design and procurement of marketing materials, and ensure the brewery's website content is current and reflective of our brand image. Additionally, the role involves maintaining company profiles on third-party websites and responding to inquiries related to charitable donations. Staying informed about industry trends and best practices in marketing and beer is essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Implement marketing strategies that align with brand values and business objectives.
  • Manage social media community interactions, including responding to comments and inquiries.
  • Attend taproom and market events to generate content for social media stories and posts.
  • Post important announcements and user-generated content to social media stories.
  • Keep social media and website events calendars updated.
  • Support taproom teams through event marketing and in-store consumer communications.
  • Manage design and procurement of marketing materials, including signage, business cards, and promotional items.
  • Create graphic designs for marketing materials used by taprooms and wholesale teams.
  • Manage the brewery's website content, ensuring it is up-to-date and reflects the brand image.
  • Maintain company profiles on third-party websites for business information and customer interactions.
  • Handle inbound emails through the website contact form and reroute as necessary.
  • Respond to charitable donation inquiries.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in marketing and beer.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in marketing, preferably in the beverage or hospitality industry.
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms and digital marketing tools.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to develop innovative marketing strategies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple complex tasks and shifting priorities.
  • Must have a reliable method of communication with all employees.
  • Passion for beer and an understanding of the brewing industry is a plus.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is required.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation for traveling between company locations and external events.
  • Able to work flexible hours necessary to cover content at multiple locations.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
