About the position

The Communication Manager at Washington State University Alumni Association (WSUAA) is responsible for developing and executing communication strategies to enhance membership engagement and philanthropic activities among alumni, students, staff, faculty, and friends of the University. This role involves creating and overseeing marketing and communication materials, coordinating advertising efforts, and managing special projects with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute communication strategies to increase WSUAA membership.
• Enhance engagement with the University and foster philanthropic activity.
• Create compelling content for membership initiatives and events.
• Coordinate advertising and signage for various campaigns.
• Manage special marketing efforts and projects as assigned.
• Write, edit, and oversee the production of marketing materials in both electronic and printed formats.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in public relations, mass communications, or a relevant field.
• Three years of professional experience in print or broadcast news media, public relations, or marketing.
• Proven experience with writing and editing skills, including feature articles, brochures, and speeches.
• Ability to define marketing and communications strategies, goals, and objectives.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to function professionally under deadlines and stressful situations.
• Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

• Five or more years of experience managing marketing communications.
• Mastery of best practices for digital marketing tools.
• Familiarity with design software for creating print materials, videos, and web content.
• Connection to or familiarity with Washington State University.
