About the position

The Communications Adjunct Faculty position involves teaching courses such as Public Speaking, Dynamics of Communication, COM Tech, Journalism/PR, Digital Media, and TV & Film for the Spring 2025 semester. Faculty members are responsible for delivering course content in accordance with the published catalog and approved syllabus, while incorporating interactive approaches and technologies. The role requires a commitment to teaching in person and/or being certified to teach online.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches assigned courses in accordance with the description published in the catalog and the approved course syllabus.
  • Incorporates an appreciation of diverse lifestyles, cultures, and national perspectives into courses.
  • Utilizes the library, writing, and academic technologies in courses when possible.
  • Meets all scheduled class meetings and advises the Assistant Dean of absences in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate grade and attendance records for students and submits required reports.
  • Submits grades by the published deadline.
  • Participates in assessment of learning outcomes and uses results in course planning.
  • Plans in advance to ensure availability of supplies, textbooks, and classroom equipment.
  • Submits progress reports on students and discusses any problems requiring special attention.
  • Adheres to College policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in the discipline required unless otherwise specified.
  • Some teaching experience is required.
  • Unofficial college transcripts must be submitted prior to interview.

Nice-to-haves

  • Teaching experience at the community college level.
