About the position

The Communications Adjunct Faculty position involves teaching evening courses in Public Speaking, Dynamics of Communication, COM Tech, Journalism/PR, Digital Media, and TV & Film for the Spring 2025 semester at campuses in Cranford, Elizabeth, and Plainfield. Faculty members are responsible for teaching assigned courses as per the catalog description and approved syllabus, while incorporating interactive approaches and technologies. The role requires a commitment to diversity and the use of library and technology resources in teaching. Faculty must maintain accurate records, submit grades on time, and participate in the assessment of learning outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches assigned courses in accordance with the description published in the catalog and the approved course syllabus.
  • Incorporates an appreciation of diverse lifestyles, cultures, and national perspectives into courses.
  • Utilizes library resources, writing, and academic technologies in courses.
  • Meets all scheduled class meetings and advises the Assistant Dean of absences in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate grade and attendance records and submits required reports.
  • Submits grades by the published deadline.
  • Participates in assessment of learning outcomes and uses results in course planning.
  • Plans in advance for the availability of supplies, textbooks, and classroom equipment.
  • Submits progress reports on students and discusses any issues with appropriate personnel.
  • Adheres to College policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in the discipline required unless otherwise specified.
  • Some teaching experience is required.
  • Unofficial college transcripts must be submitted prior to interview.
