About the position

Montana Technological University seeks qualified applicants for a full-time position, eligible for benefits, that serves Ripple: The Center for Education and Ecosystem Studies. The Communications and Outreach Coordinator ensures all of the Center's communications for teachers, students, and the public. This position will ensure that all target schools within the Clark Fork Watershed are reached through direct classroom service and field trips. The communications and outreach coordinator assists with special event planning, volunteer recruitment, and fundraising for the program. The communications and outreach coordinator works closely with the Executive Director to create graphics, publications and web materials for the various programs that Ripple operates.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-class lectures and field trips regarding the restoration of the Clark Fork Watershed for Watershed Science target schools within the Clark Fork.
  • Assist with teacher professional development and lesson creation for Watershed Science target schools.
  • Manage, maintain, and update as necessary the www.cfwep.org websites.
  • Manage, maintain, and update the Ripple social media platforms.
  • Design Ripple marketing materials, posters, graphic media, and video media communications.
  • Assist with development, organization and planning for all Ripple events including annual clean-up days and fundraising events.
  • Assist Executive Director with marketing, branding, and creation of annual reports.
  • Update and revitalize Ripple electronic curricula such as ARC GIS Storymaps.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific field (biology, chemistry, geology, etc.) or Bachelor's in Communications/Media studies with at least one year experience teaching.
  • Proficiency with web and print layout design.
  • Ability to create, edit, and publish video outreach materials.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills for a variety of audiences including K-12 and adult learners.
  • Proficiency with design and layout programs.
  • Ability to travel throughout Montana.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with providing teacher professional development and lesson plans.
  • Ability to create and manage ARC GIS storymaps and other ARC GIS platforms.
  • Front-end website management skills.
