About the position

The Communications and Partnership Manager at Lehigh University will play a pivotal role in managing and supporting outreach, communication, and partnered programs for the Department of Art, Architecture and Design. This position is essential for fostering relationships both internally within the university and externally with various stakeholders, including prospective students, alumni, media outlets, and community, corporate, industry, and foundation partners. The primary goal is to expand and strengthen the department's network of external relationships, which includes developing and managing internship programs and placements for current and graduating students to enhance their overall outcomes. Reporting directly to the Department Chairperson, this role will involve regular travel off-campus and oversight of wage and work-study students who support the position's responsibilities. The position is classified as a Grade 9-40, with a salary range of approximately $54,390 to $66,190, subject to change based on experience, skills, and qualifications. This is a two-year term position, and the successful candidate will be expected to elevate faculty research and creative practices through outreach, develop internship partnerships, support current and graduating students, engage with prospective students, and maintain communications with alumni. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for managing the department's public and digital profile, including social media accounts and promotional materials.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the department and the college's and university's Communications units.
  • Identify professional, industry, and disciplinary awards for faculty and assist in submissions.
  • Attend industry conferences to promote faculty research and support during events.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community, corporate, and foundation partners for student internships.
  • Manage an online repository of internship opportunities and support students in their applications.
  • Oversee the Summer Experiential Learning Fellowship application process for students.
  • Serve as the administrative liaison for student chapters of professional organizations.
  • Prepare a repository for graduating seniors to connect with employment opportunities and graduate programs.
  • Plan and manage recruiting events for prospective students interested in the department.
  • Represent the department at recruiting events, which may occur outside business hours.
  • Assist in identifying alumni for outreach and strengthen relationships through meetings.
  • Plan and coordinate alumni visits and events, which may require travel and occur outside business hours.
  • Prepare and write materials about the department for internal and external distribution.
  • Manage the department's social media accounts and oversee student staff for content creation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One to three years of related work experience.
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience in art, architecture, design, or creative industries in a communications, marketing, or program management role.
  • Superlative interpersonal and communication skills to engage with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with proficiency in writing, editing, and proofreading.
  • Ability to convey information visually in a clear and refined manner.
  • Strong project management skills throughout all stages of project development.
  • High level of initiative and motivation to improve processes and workflows.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
