About the position

The Autism Science Foundation (ASF) is seeking a Communications and Social Media Director to lead the creation, development, production, and distribution of original content across various platforms, particularly social media. This full-time role is essential for engaging and retaining the ASF community through strategic digital communications, supporting the organization's mission to fund scientific research for autism. The position involves a hybrid work model, requiring 1-2 days per week in the New York City office.

Responsibilities

  • Develop targeted communications and social media campaigns across multiple platforms in collaboration with science and event teams.
  • Create videos, images, infographics, and post them on various social media platforms.
  • Write and produce twice-monthly newsletters.
  • Draft advocacy statements, letters, and press releases.
  • Monitor social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and X, responding to posts that tag ASF.
  • Analyze analytics to gauge the success of campaigns.
  • Manage and organize ASF's photo and video library.
  • Create and execute a content calendar.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 3 years of experience in social media management or communications.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Canva.
  • Experience with Constant Contact and social media analytics.
  • Outstanding writing skills and creativity.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in public relations or journalism.
  • Basic design ability.
