About the position

Acumen is seeking a Communications Associate to join its marketing and communications team, working closely with our founder and CEO, Jacqueline Novogratz. This role is pivotal in amplifying the founder's inspirational voice across various platforms. The position is based in New York City and operates under a hybrid model, requiring in-office attendance on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The Communications Associate will report directly to the Communications Director, who in turn reports to the CEO. The Communications Associate will be responsible for managing the CEO's online channels and supporting the Communications Director in shaping and activating her narrative across both owned and earned content. This role demands a creative and strategic mindset, as well as a strong understanding of social media dynamics. The ideal candidate will have experience in crafting editorial calendars, creating engaging content, and measuring the impact of social media initiatives. In addition to content creation, the Communications Associate will monitor and moderate social media channels, review analytics to implement learnings, and assist in creating video content. The role also involves maintaining internal photo and video libraries, preparing briefs for interviews and events, and assisting in earned media outreach and coordination. General research and administrative tasks related to communications will also be part of the responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Crafting editorial calendars across the CEO's online channels
  • Creating and curating content in partnership with the in-house story studio across email, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook
  • Scheduling posts across the above channels
  • Monitoring and moderating the above channels
  • Reviewing analytics and implementing learnings
  • Assisting in creating video content
  • Maintaining internal photo and video libraries
  • Preparing interview and event briefs and talking points
  • Assisting in earned media outreach, monitoring, and coordination
  • Performing general research and communications administrative tasks

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in community management
  • Exceptional writing and copy editing skills
  • Experience or exposure to community management tools and software for planning, monitoring, and analytics
  • Experience with Canva
  • Ability to film and edit video for social media preferred
  • Excellent project and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to handle confidential matters and information with discretion
  • Self-reflective and aligned with Acumen's values
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. (based in NY, or willing to relocate to NY for this role)

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with video editing software
  • Familiarity with social media advertising
