About the position

The Communications Center Dispatcher at the Madison County Sheriff's Office is a critical role responsible for receiving and transmitting vital information during emergencies, including life-threatening situations. This position requires effective communication skills and the ability to handle stressful situations while maintaining professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and transmit crucial information through telephone and radio communications.
  • Maintain a courteous and professional attitude toward the public and other agencies.
  • Work rotating 12-hour shifts, including day, night, and mid-shift assignments.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by a Communications Supervisor, Undersheriff, or the Sheriff.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School diploma or equivalency is required.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to multi-task and possess computer knowledge.
  • Must have FCIC/NCIC certifications.
  • Must satisfactorily pass all applications, backgrounds, oral interviews, drug screening, and physical examinations.
