About the position

The Communications Content Editor role at BYU-Hawaii is designed for students to create, refine, and enhance content for various university publications and internal communications. This part-time position is ideal for those who have begun gaining relevant experience and are looking to build their skills in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Write, review, and edit content to improve readability and ensure alignment with audience needs and university standards.
  • Verify information such as dates, facts, and statistics using reliable sources.
  • Identify and correct errors in spelling, punctuation, and syntax through proofreading.
  • Generate ideas for stories or content that will engage the target audience.
  • Review and authorize proofs from the composing room before production.
  • Oversee email distribution lists, creating and designing communication emails.
  • Coordinate digital signage content, schedules, channels, and hardware across campus.
  • Maintain and update event and calendar web content.
  • Create and schedule posts for student groups on myBYUH, the internal communications platform.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completed lower division courses in relevant fields.
  • 3 months of directly relevant experience.
