About the position

The Communications Coordinator will assist the Communications Director in managing both external and internal communications for the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. This role involves planning and executing public information actions, advising divisions on relevant services and events, and ensuring effective communication strategies are implemented to enhance the department's outreach and engagement with the public.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Communications Director in managing communications strategies.
  • Plan and execute public information actions.
  • Advise assigned divisions on relevant services and activities.
  • Coordinate educational events and manage communication during emergencies.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, marketing, ag education, or a related field.
  • Two years of work experience in journalism, public relations, advertising, marketing, or a related communications field.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Effective time management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • More than two years of work experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of media relations or public relations principles.
  • Skills in writing for various communications media.
  • Skills in video production, including shooting and editing short-form videos.
