About the position

The Communications Coordinator, Operations & Policy Analyst 1 position at the Oregon Department of Corrections is responsible for enhancing the agency's communication efforts both internally and externally. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure transparency and effective dissemination of information, supporting the department's mission to promote public safety and accountability. The position is hybrid, allowing for a combination of in-office and remote work, and is part of a team focused on media relations, public records coordination, and legislative communication.

Responsibilities

  • Participate as a member of the Office of Communications and Government Relations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote the department's mission and goals.
  • Serve as a trusted source of accurate information for the public.
  • Manage internal and external communications, including media relations and public records coordination.
  • Update and maintain an informational portal to promote engagement.
  • Assist in maintaining content and engagement on the department's social media platforms.
  • Prepare and disseminate newsletter articles using various media formats.
  • Monitor media coverage relevant to the department and state-related issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science, or a related field.
  • Three years of technical-level experience supporting the knowledge and skill requirements for the position.
