About the position

The Communications Coordinator at the Harvard Graduate School of Education's Center on the Developing Child plays a vital role in supporting the communications team in promoting the science of child development. This position involves managing multiple projects, updating digital content, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance the Center's communication efforts. The role is designed for a dynamic individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about education and child development.

Responsibilities

  • Making routine content updates to the Center website using a content management system (WordPress)
  • Helping to maintain the Center's social media accounts and creating new content
  • Synthesizing metrics for monthly reporting and supporting data collection
  • Updating and maintaining an electronic point library of communications-related elements
  • Working with project managers to ensure accurate website content updates
  • Providing podcast production support, including audio editing and logistics
  • Providing video production support, including scheduling and logistics
  • Managing external request systems and communications team activities
  • Supporting the Center Director in preparing slide presentations
  • Handling communications activities related to Center events
  • Providing general administrative support to the Communications team
  • Processing payments for Communications team purchases and managing subscriptions
  • Providing administrative support around candidate searches and hiring processes
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Two years of relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, or related discipline
  • Experience using content management systems (e.g., WordPress) and email marketing tools (e.g., MailChimp)
  • Experience in customer service or media relations
  • Experience with publication layout/design and video/audio editing
  • Previous editorial experience (online or print)
  • Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
