The Communications Digital Media Specialist will play a crucial role in enhancing the visibility and outreach of New York Sea Grant (NYSG) through effective digital media strategies. This position is responsible for creating and managing content across various social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, as well as maintaining the NYSG website. The specialist will work closely with the Communications Manager and other Extension and Research staff to ensure that all digital content is timely, relevant, and engaging. The role requires a high level of creativity and originality, as the specialist will be tasked with designing visually appealing graphics and layouts for a variety of communication materials, including newsletters, brochures, and promotional items. In addition to social media management, the specialist will coordinate advanced desktop publishing projects, utilizing tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud programs (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro). The successful candidate will have a keen eye for design and a strong understanding of how to effectively combine text and graphics to create compelling content. Given the fast-paced nature of the role, the specialist must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines. The position also involves collaboration with freelancers and other stakeholders to produce high-quality publications and digital content. The specialist will be expected to stay updated on emerging trends in digital media and technology, researching and testing new software and tools to enhance production efficiency. This role may require some travel for meetings and events, both in-state and out-of-state, to represent NYSG and participate in professional activities.
