About the position

The Communications Director at the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists (SIDP) is responsible for managing the organization's public image and communications strategy. This part-time, contract role involves overseeing internal and external communications, enhancing brand integrity, and increasing public awareness of antimicrobial resistance. The position requires collaboration with various committees and the Board of Directors to produce effective communication across multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and drive a cohesive, multi-channel communications strategy for the Society.
  • Project a positive Society image to the public and other healthcare professional organizations.
  • Track engagement across various communication strategies and platforms, making data-driven decisions.
  • Manage media relations and develop contacts with media members, influencers, and community leaders.
  • Prepare and manage communications material for both internal and external communications, including copy editing and proofreading.
  • Create and propose a communications budget to elevate the brand and image of the Society.
  • Increase public awareness of antimicrobial resistance and the importance of stewardship.
  • Leverage relationships with other organizations to promote SIDP programs and services.
  • Review and update organizational prospectus.
  • Work with the Social Media committee to develop visual, audio, and video content that promotes SIDP's mission and vision.
  • Drive growth of membership and visibility of the profession via media presence and targeted advertisements.
  • Maintain and optimize the SIDP website in collaboration with the Website committee.
  • Elevate the reach of the Breakpoints podcast and maintain its website.
  • Develop patient-oriented and healthcare provider-oriented content with the Public Outreach committee.
  • Draft position statements and write press releases with the Policy and Government Affairs Committee.
  • Expand reach and success of SIDP's educational offerings with various committees.
  • Publicize funded content developed by the Fundraising committee and coordinate educational toolkits.
  • Assist additional committees with internal and external communication as needed.
  • Develop and maintain presentation templates for SIDP members.
  • Offer media training to interested members and/or board members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, publications, marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Proven work experience as a Communications Director or similar role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with different communications technologies, including content management systems and HTML coding.
  • Experience with search engine marketing, Google Analytics, and Google AdWords.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and social media marketing.
  • Strong preference for candidates with relevant healthcare experience or work with non-profit organizations.

  • Experience building and maintaining relationships between professional organizations, health-systems, and industry partners.
  • Emerging experience to leverage AI in the healthcare landscape for effective communication.
