About the position

The Communications Infrastructure Project Manager at UCLA will be responsible for the coordination and oversight of infrastructure projects executed by both in-house technicians and third-party contractors. This role involves consulting on construction projects, which includes coordinating project plans and managing costs associated with designing, estimating, and overseeing installations. The Project Manager will work closely with UCLA's communications infrastructure and field operations teams to ensure the successful execution of infrastructure contracts while maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. In this position, the Project Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the prompt and efficient resolution of technical issues, managing resources effectively, maintaining service quality, and fostering positive relationships with customers. The individual will significantly impact UCLA's operations and culture by ensuring that the IT infrastructure is operable, secure, efficient, and effective in supporting the university's academic mission. This role is essential in delivering exceptional information technology services consistently across faculty, staff, and students, thereby advancing the University's mission. The Project Manager will execute UCLA's vision while embodying the university's culture and values.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee infrastructure projects executed by in-house technicians and third-party contractors.
  • Consult on construction projects, including coordinating project plans and cost management.
  • Facilitate projects with UCLA's communications infrastructure and field operations teams.
  • Ensure successful execution of infrastructure contracts and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Resolve technical issues promptly and efficiently, managing resources effectively.
  • Maintain service quality and foster positive relationships with customers.
  • Deliver exceptional information technology services across faculty, staff, and students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, computer information systems, or equivalent experience/training (Required).
  • Three years of experience in network services, infrastructure projects, information technology, or network operations (Required).
  • Five or more years of experience in network services, infrastructure projects, information technology, or network operations (Preferred).
  • Strong coordination and leadership skills to manage infrastructure service technicians and engineers (Required).
  • In-depth knowledge of communications infrastructure technologies, including network design and cabling systems (Required).
  • Excellent vendor management and interpersonal skills (Required).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (Required).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (Required).
  • Ability to establish and advance positive working relationships (Required).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to balance competing priorities (Required).
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions with integrity (Required).
