About the position

The Communications Manager at Elevance Health is responsible for developing and implementing the internal communications plan for a designated business unit, ensuring consistency in messaging. This role involves collaborating with senior executives, leading cross-regional projects, and managing corporate communications, including intranet content and community advocacy efforts. As an individual contributor, the Communications Manager plays a crucial role in enhancing internal communication strategies and supporting the organization's overall initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the research of internal communication needs and establish goals and objectives.
  • Act as communications lead for key cross-regional projects.
  • Work with senior executives in message preparation, including writing, editing, and strategic planning of messages to internal audiences.
  • Develop speeches and presentations for senior team members.
  • Lead the strategic development of messages for regular manager forums for top management.
  • Serve as senior editor of corporate and/or online communications.
  • Develop and maintain intranet communication for the assigned business unit.
  • Partner with other communication teams to implement a strategic communications plan aligned with organizational initiatives.
  • Manage FGS social responsibility and community advocacy efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, English, communications, or a related area.
  • Seven years of related experience in communications or public relations.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic counsel to business partners.
  • Experience with intranet development and maintenance.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of managed care and the health insurance industry.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional project teams from concept to launch.
