About the position

The Communications Manager at Tipping Point Community is a key role focused on leveraging storytelling to drive social change. This position is responsible for creating and delivering various content types, including fundraising campaigns, event programming, and donor communications. The role requires both strategic and creative thinking to execute impactful storytelling initiatives that align with Tipping Point's mission of fighting poverty in the Bay Area.

Responsibilities

  • Distill Tipping Point's investment strategies into stories, presentations, and written materials.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of donor-facing communications.
  • Partner with the Institutional and Individual Giving teams to support donor-facing messaging, grant proposals, and reports.
  • Participate in communications efforts for select events and campaigns, including theme and messaging development.
  • Develop creative approaches and content to communicate Tipping Point's mission and impact to key constituencies.
  • Translate complex ideas into copy and visuals for various formats including blogs, speeches, and print collateral.
  • Manage vendors such as design firms.
  • Understand creative and storytelling trends and bring fresh ideas to the team.
  • Manage cross-organizational teams and multiple vendors on a project-by-project basis.

Requirements

  • Well-developed track record as a communications professional.
  • Exceptional written communications skills and ability to translate complex concepts into clear content.
  • Demonstrated ability to use ideation and creativity in work.
  • Ability to write for a donor audience and engage them with the mission.
  • Track record of excellence in project planning and self-direction.
  • Proven ability to use data to tell a compelling story and simplify data visualizations for non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in changing environments and persistence in overcoming obstacles.
  • Ability to develop and maintain partnerships and work cooperatively across teams.
