About the position

At BAE Systems, we are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Communications Manager to join our team. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of Aerospace and Defense communication, where your contributions will truly matter. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional writing skills, project management capabilities, and the ability to distill complex content into understandable and engaging communications. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, including media, to effectively communicate our mission, values, and initiatives. This position requires a project management mindset, creativity, and excellent communication skills to elevate our visibility and influence among key government stakeholders. As a Communications Manager, you will develop and execute communication plans that support key business priorities. You will lead campaigns aimed at positioning the company as a leader in the industry, including thought leadership initiatives and policy advocacy efforts. Your responsibilities will include creating compelling written content for various channels, such as press releases, articles, presentations, employee platforms, and digital/social media content. You will manage communication projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with organizational objectives. Collaboration with internal teams, industry, and government stakeholders will be essential to coordinate external communication activities and ensure consistency of messaging. Additionally, you will track and analyze communication metrics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and identify areas for improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute communication plans to support key business priorities.
  • Lead campaigns to position the company as a leader in the industry, including thought leadership initiatives and policy advocacy efforts.
  • Create compelling written content for various channels, including press releases, articles, presentations, employee platforms, and digital/social media content.
  • Manage communication projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, industry, and government stakeholders to coordinate external communication activities and ensure consistency of messaging.
  • Track and analyze communication metrics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and identify areas for improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in strategic communications or public relations.
  • Proven track record of success in developing and executing campaign style communication strategies and tactics.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to translate complex technical content into clear and compelling messaging.
  • Experience with government communication and public policy advocacy is required.
  • Previous experience in a communications agency or public sector communications in-house role is required.
  • Experience in strategic communications in the Aerospace and Defense industry.
  • Experience working in Government - Congress and/or Administration.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
