About the position

The Communications Network Engineer position at Apex Systems is a critical role focused on evaluating and troubleshooting various communication hardware and software systems. This position requires a deep understanding of Local Area Networks (LAN), Base Area Networks (BAN), and Wide Area Networks (WAN), as well as the ability to address and resolve network-related issues effectively. The engineer will be responsible for administering these networks, ensuring their optimal performance and reliability. In addition to troubleshooting, the role involves scheduling conversions and cutovers, which are essential for maintaining network integrity during upgrades or changes. The engineer will coordinate with all responsible users and sites to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruption to services. Specialized experience in the performance and configuration of networks is crucial, as well as expertise in the integration and testing of complex, large-scale computer integrated networks. This position is fully onsite in West Bethesda, MD, and operates during regular business hours, providing a structured work environment. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical skills and practical experience, enabling them to effectively manage and enhance the organization's communication networks. Responsibilities

  • Evaluate communication hardware and software, troubleshoot LAN/BAN/WAN and other network-related problems.
  • Administer LAN/BAN/WANs to ensure optimal performance.
  • Schedule conversions and cutovers for network upgrades.
  • Coordinate with all responsible users and sites for network management.
  • Utilize specialized experience in the performance and configuration of networks, as well as integration and testing of complex large-scale computer integrated networks.

Requirements

  • Active secret clearance
  • Security + Certification
  • Bachelor's degree with 4 years of experience, or 8 years of overall networking experience
  • Preferred CCNA certification (must obtain within first 60 days if not possessed)
