About the position

The Communications Project Manager at Indiana University serves as the primary project manager for the Office of Communication within the Jacobs School of Music. This role is essential for ensuring that various projects are planned, executed, and completed efficiently and effectively. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for project management, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders. The position requires someone who can develop project timelines, manage deadlines, and analyze project outcomes to improve future processes. The project manager will be responsible for overseeing a range of projects, from large initiatives to smaller tasks, ensuring that all are completed on time and within budget. In this role, the project manager will identify and resolve operational problems, minimizing delays and ensuring smooth project execution. They will manage online collaboration tools, track task completion, and gather content for both digital and print publications. The project manager will also be responsible for developing project plans, analyzing project metrics, and providing regular updates to upper management. Collaboration with various departments is crucial to achieving project objectives, and the project manager may also provide guidance to non-exempt staff. The position requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and a strong background in project management. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. This is an in-person position based in Bloomington, Indiana, and offers a salary range of $47,000 to $52,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies, communicates, and helps resolve operational problems while minimizing delays.
  • Manages online collaboration tools, and tracks task completion and delivery.
  • Gathers and occasionally edits content for digital and print publication.
  • Manages small projects from start to finish or individual phases of a larger project through to completion within budgetary limits.
  • Develops project plan(s) and efficiently analyzes, tracks, forecasts, and reports on project metrics and shortfalls.
  • Reports on progress and provides regular updates to upper management.
  • Coordinates and communicates between various areas; conducts project meetings and prepares regular reports.
  • Collaborates with other departments to ensure that project objectives are achieved within established time frames.
  • May provide guidance and support to non-exempt staff.
