About the position

The Communications & Public Relations Manager at Wayne County Airport Authority is responsible for overseeing all external and internal communication activities for the organization, which includes Detroit Metropolitan Airport and Willow Run Airport. This role requires the individual to act as a spokesperson for the Airport Authority, available 24/7, and to manage employee communication duties. The ideal candidate should be a strategic thinker with a strong ability to maintain accuracy under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day external and internal communication activities for the Wayne County Airport Authority.
• Act as a designated spokesperson for the Airport Authority, available 24/7.
• Oversee employee communication duties and ensure effective messaging.
• Develop written documents and content for various communication platforms.
• Manage communication across social media and digital platforms.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
• Five or more years of progressive responsibility in Communications/Journalism/Public Relations.
• Two or more years of experience as a designated media spokesperson.
• Proficient with Office Suite Software (Email, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Presentation).
• Proficient with Graphics Arts/Image Editing software such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Proficient with desktop publishing software.
• Valid Driver's License with a safe driving record.
