The manager will work closely with the Director of Development and Communications to develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan that markets the 18th Street Kitchen, increases visibility, and effectively communicates the impact of the organization's programs. In this role, the manager will be responsible for crafting a robust marketing strategy that includes managing social media presence, developing advertising opportunities, and analyzing data to inform marketing decisions. The position also involves overseeing the creation of key communications materials, such as the annual impact report and appeal materials, ensuring that all content aligns with the organization's mission and values. The manager will lead the transition to a new website, manage graphic design projects, and maintain a comprehensive asset library to support the organization's communications efforts. Event planning is a significant aspect of this role, as the manager will spearhead the planning and execution of the annual fundraising gala, ensuring a memorable experience for all attendees. This includes coordinating with vendors, managing event logistics, and developing engaging event themes. Additionally, the manager will supervise staff, volunteers, and contractors, providing professional development and ensuring that all contributions align with organizational goals. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an integrated strategic communications plan to market 18th Street Kitchen and advance 18 Reasons' brand identity.
  • Identify strategic opportunities for paid advertising and manage an advertising budget.
  • Develop and implement systems for internal communications tracking and KPIs.
  • Analyze data to inform marketing strategy and develop a communications calendar to ensure message consistency.
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of the annual impact report and annual appeal materials.
  • Manage newsletter and social media content strategy and execution.
  • Lead the transition to a new website, managing the design process with web developers.
  • Oversee and maintain a comprehensive photo and testimonial library.
  • Spearhead the planning and execution of the spring fundraising gala, ensuring a memorable experience for all guests.
  • Provide supervision and professional development to the Development Coordinator and manage project-based volunteers.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in marketing/communications and/or nonprofit development.
  • Experience creating and executing comprehensive marketing and communications strategies.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading experience.
  • Experience with event planning and management.
  • Experience with graphic design desired.
  • Web design and maintenance, social media management, analytics, and CRM management experience.
  • Excellent project management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly learn and master new technology and software programs as needed.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, English, or a related field is desirable.
  • Experience with fundraising communications desired.
