About the position

The Communications Specialist at AIU Online is responsible for developing, supporting, and delivering internal and external communications for the American InterContinental University System. This role involves project management and a variety of communication activities aimed at engaging diverse audiences, including students, faculty, and organizational partners. The specialist will act as a liaison for internal communications and advocate for brand messaging externally, ensuring consistency and adherence to brand guidelines across all communications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage internal and System-wide communications to keep staff and faculty informed.
  • Facilitate, edit, and send System-wide and member institution announcements.
  • Work with member institutions to develop, gather, edit, and disseminate recurring newsletters highlighting events, accomplishments, and updates.
  • Post System news on internal sites as needed.
  • Prepare for quarterly all-hands meetings with the team.
  • Assist with writing, editing, coordination, and distribution of student and prospective student communications, including newsletters, blogs, mass emails, and website updates.
  • Ensure all communications are consistent in look and feel, adhering to brand and style guides.
  • Review communications for redundancies and streamline opportunities.
  • Assist with survey creation and dissemination as needed.
  • Monitor various inboxes and send responses utilizing appropriate resources.
  • Develop and maintain an annual communications calendar and track/report progress.
  • Maintain communications materials and reporting documents, audience mass email lists, and departmental archives.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for creation and maintenance of System-wide resources.
  • Support special projects as requested by System leadership.
  • Assist with events, meetings, accreditation visits, and graduations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 2-3 years in communications arena or related experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent proofreading abilities.
  • Ability to effectively present information concisely.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Publisher or similar platforms.
  • Proficiency in Clearslide, Hubspot, and/or MailChimp preferred.
  • Survey Monkey and/or Qualtrics knowledge preferred.
  • Experience in Canva and Adobe Photoshop a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage multiple projects.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and logical + creative thinking skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, or Marketing preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in higher education internal communications.
