The Communications Specialist for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany plays a crucial role in managing the Diocese's social media presence and supporting the overall communications strategy. This position is based at the Pastoral Center located at 40 North Main Ave., Albany, NY, and reports directly to the Director of Communications. The specialist will be responsible for overseeing social media efforts across various platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter (X), and TikTok. This includes developing a content calendar, creating engaging graphics, and writing compelling captions to enhance the Diocese's online visibility and engagement with the community. In addition to social media management, the Communications Specialist will assist in updating the diocesan website, ensuring that content is current and reflective of the Diocese's mission and activities. Collaboration with the Director of Communications and the Multimedia Specialist is essential for this task. The role also involves supporting the Communications Department with press releases, news conferences, and gathering information for events and organizations that need promotion. The specialist will be expected to handle various administrative tasks, such as managing incoming calls to the Communications line, responding to media inquiries, maintaining digital files of press releases and graphics, and monitoring the main Communications email address. This position requires a proactive individual who can work independently while also being a collaborative team member. A strong understanding of the Catholic faith and its teachings is necessary to effectively communicate the Diocese's messages and values. The role is part-time, requiring 20 hours of work per week, and offers a starting pay range of $20.00 to $22.00 per hour.
