The Communications Specialist I at the University of Alabama is responsible for writing and editing communications for various departments, colleges, and divisions under general supervision. This role offers opportunities for creativity and innovation in promoting the programs, services, and facilities of University Recreation. The specialist will manage communications for University Recreation events and services, ensuring compliance with Strategic Communications and Student Life Divisional Communications. This includes overseeing the design and distribution of information to keep members and staff informed about available services and program offerings. The Communications Specialist I will also coordinate with Student Life Communications to create promotional materials for University Recreation and develop strategic promotion plans for various departmental areas. Furthermore, the role involves designing and presenting UREC-specific presentations for events such as Bama Bound Orientation, University Days, and Transfer Days, as well as for campus partners. The specialist will provide program management and oversight of student staff with specialized skills and assist the Director of Communications for the Division of Student Life in supporting divisional communication efforts. The position requires a commitment to promoting a safe, hospitable, and respectful workplace, alongside completing required training.
