About the position

SC State University's Campus Police Department in Orangeburg, SC, is accepting applications for a Dispatcher (Communications Specialist III) in the Campus Police Department.

Responsibilities

• Perform the duties of a communication specialist/dispatcher.
• Operate SLED/NCIC computer, to include receiving and transmitting calls for services with clarity, accuracy, and precision.
• Perform record checks as requested by officers.
• Remain vigilant of officers' response to calls for services.
• Promptly provide needed information to officers.
• Function effectively during emergencies and periods of heavy communication traffic.
• Understand and follow instructions.
• Speak clearly and concisely.
• Communicate information accurately and unambiguously.
• Maintain accurate and complete daily call log.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Must be physically qualified.
• Have no criminal record.
• Must pass a background investigation.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
