About the position

In this exciting role at our Washington, D.C.-based trade association, we are looking for a driven, creative, and digitally forward-thinking person to join our communications team. At the forefront of our reputation management strategy, we work to build and maintain Farm Credit's reputation in Washington, D.C. and across the country. This position plays an important role in the execution of this strategy by implementing our social media campaigns, developing written content for our website, creating editorial calendars for our membership, and monitoring the media to find opportunities to engage. The Communications Specialist will assist in the creation of content and post daily on all @FarmCredit channels. This role involves monitoring social media for Farm Credit activities using digital vendor platforms, assisting in the development of monthly editorial calendars based on our One Mission. Many Voices. messaging campaign, and monitoring traditional media for Farm Credit news. Additionally, the specialist will compile the Farm Credit Daily News for distribution to our membership, draft customer stories and other content for our website, and assist in optimizing our website content for search engine optimization by end-users. The position also supports the development of social media toolkits for Farm Credit sponsored events and partnerships. In addition to an annual bonus opportunity and competitive benefits, the salary range for this position is $56,700-85,000 annually. We operate on a hybrid schedule, currently allowing employees to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in creation of content and post daily on all @FarmCredit channels.
  • Monitor social media for Farm Credit activities using digital vendor platforms.
  • Assist in development of monthly editorial calendars for Farm Credit institutions, based on our One Mission. Many Voices. messaging campaign.
  • Monitor traditional media for Farm Credit news.
  • Compile the Farm Credit Daily News for distribution to our membership.
  • Draft customer stories and other content for our website, www.FarmCredit.com.
  • Assist in optimizing our website content for search engine optimization by end-users.
  • Support development of social media toolkits for Farm Credit sponsored events and partnerships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required preferably in Marketing, Communications or Journalism.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in digital marketing and communications.
  • Strong understanding of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn, how to optimize postings and how to gather analytics required.
  • Professional knowledge and understanding of current trends and best practices in digital/social media - should have experience representing a brand, organization or company voice.
  • Experience with Meltwater's social media and traditional media tools preferred.
  • Experience with website management (WordPress) preferred.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and/or creating graphics preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Congress, the executive branch and the U.S. political process preferred.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills required.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail & high degree of accuracy.
  • Interest in or experience with the agricultural industry preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Maintains confidentiality as required and supports the core values and mission of the organization.
