About the position

Wind Creek Hospitality is seeking a Communications Specialist who will act as the voice and content strategist for all existing and emerging social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok. This role is pivotal in enhancing the online presence of Wind Creek Hospitality and engaging with the community through effective communication strategies. The Communications Specialist will be responsible for creating compelling content that resonates with the audience, drives key performance indicators (KPIs), and aligns with the overall corporate strategy. In addition to managing social media accounts, the Communications Specialist will provide support to the Corporate Communications Department by assisting with writing, proofreading, and project management for various initiatives. The position requires staying updated on current social media trends and tools to effectively grow the property’s online community. Collaboration with various departments, including Communications, Marketing, and Creative Services, is essential to ensure that social media tactics are in sync with corporate and property strategies. The role also involves tracking the performance of social media posts, compiling monthly social reports, and coordinating internal newsletter efforts. The Communications Specialist will assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing projects and strategies for Wind Creek Hospitality, contributing to the overall mission of providing guests with an engaging and enjoyable experience. Other duties may be assigned as necessary, making this a dynamic and multifaceted position.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as the voice and content strategist for the property's social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter.
  • Excelling in visual storytelling by combining captivating copy with high-quality content that drives KPIs and aligns with content optimization techniques.
  • Staying updated on current social media trends and tools to grow the property's online community.
  • Collaborating with Communications, Marketing, Creative Services, and other departments to ensure social media tactics align with corporate and property strategies.
  • Tracking post performance and making necessary optimizations.
  • Compiling and distributing monthly social reports.
  • Coordinating the internal newsletter efforts at the property.
  • Assisting with the planning, coordination, and implementation of projects and strategies for Wind Creek Hospitality.
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required or currently enrolled and successfully complete a GED program within 6 months from start date as a condition of continued employment.
  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older.
  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis on communications, marketing, journalism, media, broadcasting, or public relations, or four (4) years of experience managing a professional social media account(s) required.
  • One (1) year experience managing a social media account(s) in either a professional or internship setting required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; a skills test will be administered, and the candidate must achieve at least a 70% skills pass rate required.
  • Working knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and a social media content management tool.
  • Exceptional writing, proofreading, and public speaking skills.
  • Basic photo and video editing skills.
  • Conversant with a variety of writing styles and tones.
  • Must possess a high level of maturity with the ability to self-manage and conduct independent research.
  • Must successfully pass job interview, including a guest service audition.
  • Willing to work odd and irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Willing and able to stand and/or walk for an entire shift.
  • Willing and able to endure outside weather conditions; heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.
  • Willing to travel as recommended or required.
  • Must have an Occupational License (or the ability to obtain and maintain a license) pursuant to the Illinois Gaming Act and remain in good standing with the Illinois Gaming Board as a requirement for this position.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in customer relations or guest services preferred.
  • Previous on-camera experience (or comfortable being on-camera) preferred.
