About the position

Boise Cascade is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Communications Specialist who will play a crucial role in planning, writing, reviewing, and managing content across various internal mediums. This position is integral to the Corporate Communications team, which is dedicated to delivering clear, engaging, and relevant information that aligns with the company's brand, purpose, and values. The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing professional and impactful end products that resonate with our audience and support our organizational goals. In this role, the Communications Specialist will research, write, and edit content for multiple channels, including print, electronic, intranet, social media, and presentations. They will create strategic communication plans that define timelines, products, key messages, audiences, review teams, and delivery methods. The specialist will also manage complex, fast-moving, and unexpected communication challenges, translating complex information into clear, concise, and memorable messaging. Additionally, they will review and edit communications drafted by internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment with Boise Cascade's brand and style. Collaboration is key in this position, as the Communications Specialist will work closely with subject matter experts and provide communications support across the organization. Building trust and maintaining strong, cross-functional relationships with key internal stakeholders is essential. The role also includes supporting community and philanthropic efforts in the Treasure Valley, gathering and reporting data, and using analytics and feedback to enhance the effectiveness of communications. A strong commitment to the company's values of safety, integrity, respect, and the pursuit of excellence is expected, along with the ability to perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Research, write, and edit content for multiple channels, including print, electronic, intranet, social media, and presentations.
  • Create strategic communication plans in support of key initiatives that define timelines, products, key messages, audiences, review teams, and delivery methods.

  • Translate complex information into clear, concise, and memorable messaging.
  • Review and edit communications drafted by internal stakeholders and make recommendations to ensure alignment with Boise Cascade's brand and style.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and provide communications support across the organization as needed.
  • Proactively build trust and maintain strong, cross-functional relationships with key internal stakeholders.
  • Provide support for community and philanthropic efforts in the Treasure Valley.
  • Assist in gathering and reporting data, including analytics and feedback on the effectiveness and impact of communications.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the company's values of safety, integrity, respect, and the pursuit of excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience writing, editing, proofreading, and delivering communications (print and electronic).
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Sharepoint (intranet), Teams, Canva, Adobe, and working knowledge of web and graphic design.
