About the position

The Country Club of Virginia (CCV) is seeking a team-oriented, deadline-driven Communications Specialist to join its collaborative and creative Communications Department. This position is integral to the Club's strategic communications plan and will involve creating and managing content that supports various marketing and communications efforts across the organization. The Communications Specialist will work closely with another Communications Specialist and will be a key member of a three-person communications team. The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including developing written and creative content for both print and electronic communications, producing marketing collateral, updating and maintaining the organization's website, and developing and scheduling email blasts and newsletters. All tasks will be executed in accordance with the Club's brand standards and organizational messaging values. The ideal candidate will be internally motivated, able to work independently as well as part of a team, and possess a comprehensive skill set with a demonstrated track record of managing successful communications timelines with various stakeholders. In addition to content creation, the Communications Specialist will serve as the department lead for the Club's website, developing and maintaining public, private, and employee sites, related apps, and reservation systems. The position requires collaboration with different departments to provide creative, timely, and appropriate marketing materials, as well as fostering and maintaining positive relationships across the organization. The role also involves active participation in brainstorming and planning processes for the Club's strategic communications and marketing plan, ensuring thorough, accurate, and current information is available on the website, and gathering creative ideas to enhance member and staff engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as department lead for the Club website; develop and maintain the public, private, and employee sites, related apps, and reservation systems.
  • Design creative content, including digital marketing, videography, and print collateral in support of and in collaboration with Club departments.
  • Work closely with departments to provide creative, timely, and appropriate marketing materials.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with a variety of departments.
  • Maintain and ensure thorough, accurate, and current information on the website.
  • Actively participate in the brainstorming and planning process for the Club's strategic communications and marketing plan.
  • Collaborate with departments and senior/executive leadership to gather creative ideas to enhance member and staff engagement.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience preparing and executing effective marketing and communications campaigns with quantifiable outcomes.
  • Demonstrated record of professional marketing and communications with the public through various forms of media and representing a broad constituency.
  • Digital skills, including but not limited to, proficiency with website maintenance, content management systems, digital marketing, etc.
  • Highly skilled in graphic design and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of HTML and other web programming tools.
  • Experience with photography and videography.
  • Experience in communications and outreach around emerging technologies.

Nice-to-haves
