About the position

The Communications Specialist position is a vital role within a leading specialized insurer that focuses on serving niche and underserved markets with appropriate and affordable insurance and financial solutions. This position offers a unique opportunity for an individual who is eager to contribute to a dynamic and growing company. The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Field Marketing and Communications, playing a key role in the design, creation, and implementation of communication programs that align with the organization's growth objectives. In this role, the Communications Specialist will be responsible for managing and executing comprehensive, multi-channel communications strategies that effectively drive the adoption of business objectives. The ideal candidate will be a strong collaborator and an influential storyteller, capable of building trusted partnerships with key stakeholders across the organization. The role will involve creating tailored content aimed at reaching diverse audiences, ensuring that messaging is clear, consistent, and impactful. The candidate will also be expected to manage an editorial calendar and project plans, supporting the development of an editorial strategy that encompasses both traditional and digital channels. Strong business acumen, interpersonal skills, and the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels are essential for success in this position. The Communications Specialist will be expected to provide creative ideas that ensure the company's messaging remains innovative and forward-looking, while also participating in and leading cross-functional teams on projects that require communications expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute multi-stage business communication programs to various audiences by leveraging a variety of communication channels in support of company goals, priorities and initiatives.
  • Create well-written, validated, clear, and consistent business communications and collateral.
  • Develop and manage editorial and campaign calendars.
  • Participate in and/or lead cross-functional teams on projects that require communications expertise.
  • Provide creative ideas to ensure company messaging is forward-looking and innovative.
  • Liaise across the company and businesses to support communication needs and achievement of business objectives.
  • Perform other creative duties as needed.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in journalism, communications, PR or related field
  • 4+ years' experience in Communications (internal, external or marketing), Public Relations, creative design and development, or similar experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and SharePoint
  • Experience successfully developing, driving and managing innovative communication strategies leveraging a variety of media including, but not limited to internet, email, meeting/events, video, social media, SharePoint, text/SMS and newsletters
  • Experience with the management of digital communications and measurement systems, intranet platforms, content management systems, and other technologies designed to support internal communication strategies.
