This position is located at (VSFB) Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA. This position is not eligible for a telecommuting schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational, administrative, maintenance and provisioning support on messaging, data switching, display, recording, and voice systems within a data control center.
  • Provide system administrative functions for various computer systems.
  • Provide tier-two support to other maintainers in the communications department.
  • Work with the Cybersecurity team and perform actions to ensure all systems are following DoD regulations.
  • Write corrective or preventative maintenance procedures and/or processes to complete other tasks.
  • Participate in government or contractor chaired meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to exercise diplomacy within a team environment.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good organizational skills with specific emphasis on attention to detail.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related STEM field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five (5) or more years' experience in the telecommunications or networking field.
  • Experience with networking protocols, software emulation and scripting.
  • Working knowledge of operating systems like Microsoft, Linux and CISCO with additional knowledge in Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Technical experience and knowledge to learn new systems to provide system administrative and tier 2 or level two trouble shooting support to technicians.
  • Knowledge of fiber optic, multiplexing, messaging, data switching, recording, voice, communications transport systems and encryption devices is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Western Range operations is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • CompTIA's Security+ certification or ability to obtain within six (6) months of start date.
  • Ability to support occasional travel.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The flexibility to work non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License.
