About the position

As a Community Association Manager - Portfolio, you will provide strong leadership and management direction on behalf of the Board of Directors and FirstService Residential. This role serves as a liaison to assigned communities, enhancing communication, enforcing legal compliance, and overseeing the operations of the association and staff management. You will be responsible for developing recommendations for community goals and leading action plans to achieve Board objectives. Your leadership will ensure that the needs and desires of the homeowners are being addressed effectively. In this position, you will cultivate relationships with Board members through regular systematic communication, whether in-person, via email, or telephone, to ensure that individual client needs are exceeded. You will work in partnership with the Board to create and implement the annual working budget, monitoring and reporting on the financial position of the association on a monthly basis. Ensuring due diligence for the protection of client funds, property, and assets against foreseeable contingencies or losses is a critical aspect of your role. You will provide leadership during meetings involving the Board of Directors, supporting agenda items and providing written and oral reports. Summarizing the priorities of each meeting with appropriate follow-up will be essential. Maintaining a level of service excellence in all interactions with residents, vendors, staff, and colleagues, while enforcing the Community Governing Documents, is a key responsibility. Additionally, you will assess and monitor community needs, identifying opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures, and developing new programs. Collaborating with external vendor partners to implement these programs or improvements will be part of your duties. You will also be responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising all community staff in accordance with the documented management plan, evaluating and making recommendations for efficient and effective support of the community. Working closely with local emergency organizations to maintain established emergency and community evacuation plans is also part of your responsibilities. Compliance with the Illinois Condo Act and FirstService Residential policies, including assessing and correcting any violations received from various regulatory agencies, is essential to this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Active Community Association Manager license in the state of Illinois.
  • Understanding of physical building management, Condominium law, financial planning, and law affecting property management.
  • Ability to work effectively with coworkers, clients, customers, and others by sharing ideas constructively and addressing problems to find mutually acceptable solutions.
  • Possess budgetary knowledge and control for executing programs within the community and related activities that may be cost-shared.
  • High energy attitude with the ability to multi-task and prioritize different projects.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Portfolio management experience or equivalent professional experience in a related field strongly preferred.
