About the position

The Community Association Manager at FirstService Residential is responsible for providing leadership and management direction on behalf of the Board of Directors. This role involves enhancing communication within the community, ensuring legal compliance, and overseeing the operations of the association and its staff. The position is based in the River North neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, and requires a proactive approach to community management and service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Develop recommendations for community goals and lead action plans to achieve Board objectives.
  • Provide community leadership and guidance to ensure that the needs or desires of the homeowners are being addressed.
  • In partnership with the Board, create and implement the annual working budget and monitor the financial position of the association monthly.
  • Ensure due diligence for the protection of client's funds, property, and assets against foreseeable contingencies or losses.
  • Provide leadership to each meeting involving the Board of Directors, including agenda support and written and oral reports.
  • Maintain a level of service excellence in all interactions with residents, vendors, staff, and colleagues, enforcing the Community Governing Documents.
  • Assess and monitor community needs, identifying opportunities for improving service delivery methods and developing new programs.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise all community staff in accordance with the documented management plan.
  • Work closely with local emergency organizations to maintain established emergency and community evacuation plans.
  • Perform building inspections of the interior and exterior of the property and maintain on-site visibility throughout common areas and facilities.
  • Comply with all codes and regulatory requirements for the property, including assessing and correcting any violations.

Requirements

  • Active Community Association Manager license in the state of Illinois.
  • Understanding of physical building management, Condominium law, financial planning, and law affecting property management.
  • Ability to work effectively with coworkers, clients, and customers, sharing ideas constructively and addressing problems to find practical solutions.
  • Possess budgetary knowledge and control for executing community programs and related activities.
  • High energy attitude with the ability to multi-task and prioritize different projects.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Community management experience or equivalent professional experience in a related field strongly preferred.
