The Community Based Mentor position at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri is designed to build the overall success of the Mentoring Program by supporting male youth aged 10-13 and their families. The mentor will engage in one-on-one mentoring, targeted supports, and meaningful activities to foster positive development. The role involves coordinating and executing mentoring sessions, both individually and in groups, to ensure alignment with the organization's strategy, commitments, and goals. In this role, the mentor will be responsible for organizing the Mentoring Program by partnering with families to enroll youth, aiming for a target of 10 active mentees. Weekly one-on-one sessions are to be conducted with each assigned mentee, requiring a minimum of 2 hours per week. The mentor will also check in monthly with parents and conduct home visits as necessary. Leading and organizing mentoring meetings and activities for all mentees is crucial, as is setting youth-led goals and supporting their progress. Collaboration with community champions and the Mentoring Program Director is essential for planning activities that align with the BBBSEMO Theory of Change. Documentation of challenges and successes for each youth will be maintained in the agency's data management system, Matchforce. The mentor will work closely with local schools and other non-profits to support the youth and families in the program, ensuring accessibility and availability, including scheduled evening and weekend hours. Communication and coordination with agency staff to provide necessary resources to students and families is a key aspect of the role. The mentor will also participate in weekly team meetings, position-specific training, and collaborate with other departments to support program enrollment, recruitment, and marketing efforts. Additionally, the mentor will contribute to the development and implementation of outcome reports focused on the youth in the program, administering surveys or other tools to measure the program's impact.
