Join our growing team for research related to Memory and Aging at the University of New Mexico. The Center for Memory & Aging, established in 2016 and primarily funded by National Institute of Health (NIH) grants, focuses on longitudinal studies involving older participants, both with and without cognitive issues. Our research includes the collection of MRIs, cognitive assessments, neurological evaluations, and biospecimen data, specifically targeting older adults aged 50 and above. A key objective of our research is to ensure that participant populations reflect the diverse demographics of the United States, as NIH emphasizes the importance of including representative ethnic and racial groups in clinical studies to enhance the applicability of findings across all patient populations. To support our mission, we are seeking a Community-Based Research Specialist who will provide Outreach, Engagement, and Education Services for the newly funded New Mexico Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (NM ADRC). This role is crucial in engaging a diverse group of participants, particularly Hispanic/Latino and Native American older adults. The selected candidate will be responsible for planning and executing educational and recruitment events at community sites, utilizing innovative strategies to engage participants from historically underrepresented populations in research. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as the specialist will work closely with older adults experiencing cognitive difficulties and their families, as well as collaborate with a team of staff and faculty members. This position is expected to continue until at least 2029, contingent upon grant funding.
