About the position

The Individual Support Specialist (ISS) position involves assisting individuals with disabilities or autism in enhancing their skills and experiences related to community living. The role focuses on building a personal relationship with the individual to understand their interests and needs, thereby providing tailored support. The position is part-time, requiring a commitment of approximately 8 hours per week, primarily during weekday evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with disabilities/autism in expanding their skills and experiences related to community living.
• Develop a personal relationship with the individual to understand their special interests, strengths, and learning needs.
• Serve as a resource that complements the efforts of other assigned staff.
• Maintain a reliable and dependable schedule as agreed upon with the individual.
• Work under the supervision of the Placement Coordinator and Social Worker.

Requirements

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required.
• Two professional references.
• Over 1 year of related experience preferred.
• Acceptable CORI and NBC Fingerprint.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities or autism.
• Knowledge of community resources and support services.
