About the position

The Community Coordinator for PAX - Program of Academic Exchange is responsible for facilitating the placement of high school exchange students within local families. This role involves engaging with the community to find host families, providing orientations, and assisting students with cultural adjustments. The position is part-time, flexible, and operates on a commission basis, making it ideal for individuals looking to contribute positively to their community while managing their own schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Arranging semester- and academic-year-long homes and enrollments for high school exchange students
  • Developing the interest of the local community to find families interested in hosting
  • Providing orientations to both families and students
  • Assisting the high school exchange students with personal and cultural adjustments
  • Providing positive, life-changing exposure to new cultures to everyone involved in the placement
  • Participating in the annual PAX national meeting

Requirements

  • Must be 25 years or older
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must have a personal computer
  • Must have lived in the current community for three or more years
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Experience working with teens for three or more years
  • Education and youth-counseling experience is a plus
