About the position

The Community Coordinator for the College Experience Program at Living Resources is responsible for facilitating student engagement and socialization within campus and community settings. This role involves developing opportunities for students, coordinating events, and teaching life skills classes to enhance their community involvement and personal growth. The coordinator acts as a liaison between students, families, and campus life, ensuring that students achieve their socialization goals and have a fulfilling college experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in establishing concrete community involvement goals at the start of each semester and track progress weekly.
• Meet regularly with the Academic Coordinator and Director of College Programs to report on individual student progress and address any obstacles.
• Serve as the primary contact for parents regarding student socialization and involvement on campus.
• Coordinate and attend a monthly Saturday bus trip to support students.
• Develop and implement socialization activities for students, providing support as needed.
• Coordinate with Residential Managers to ensure proper staffing for activities in the dorms.
• Work a split shift during the first week of the program to implement socialization activities after daytime orientation.
• Maintain relationships with Russell Sage College campus life and local organizations to enhance partnership opportunities.
• Teach Community Involvement classes to introduce students to campus and community opportunities and assist with executive functioning skills.
• Complete Day Habilitation documentation accurately and contemporaneously.
• Maintain regular communication with the Academic Coordinator regarding any issues or concerns.
• Ensure student safety and that individual rights are met.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field
• One year of experience working with people with disabilities
• Valid NYS driver's license
