About the position

The Community Development Coordinator I (Engagement and Outreach) at Health Research, Inc. plays a vital role in enhancing public health outcomes across New York State. This position focuses on community engagement and outreach initiatives aimed at building partnerships with various organizations to promote health equity and improve community health. The coordinator will lead innovative projects, manage community programs, and ensure compliance with public health mandates, contributing to the overall mission of the New York State Department of Health.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate initiatives and activities for the Office of Public Health, Regional Offices, and Local Health Departments.
  • Engage in outreach strategies to strengthen partnerships across New York State.
  • Collaborate with community-based organizations, workforce development institutions, and local governmental agencies.
  • Implement community engagement best practices in communications and program development.
  • Provide guidance on NYS Department of Health emergency preparedness mandates.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and oversee community programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of relevant experience in health, human service, or community-based organizations.
  • Experience in community development or economic development activities, community organizing, or urban planning.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of public health issues, emergency preparedness, health literacy, and health equity.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.
  • At least five years of community engagement or related experience.
  • Experience managing contracts or service agreements.
  • Experience developing and conducting workshops for diverse backgrounds.
