About the position

The Community Development Mortgage Loan Officer position focuses on generating residential mortgages for Low to Moderate Income (LMI) communities and minority individuals. This role is integral to the bank's commitment to community engagement and the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), supporting branches in Connecticut and participating in community organizations to enhance visibility and accessibility of mortgage services.

Responsibilities

  • Generate mortgage applications consistently to meet or exceed monthly production expectations.
  • Participate in community organizations to increase CRA visibility and make loans to low- and moderate-income borrowers.
  • Self-source loans through established referral partners, community organizations, housing agencies, and local business leaders.
  • Coordinate and conduct home-buying training seminars for potential CRA and multicultural origination mortgage applicants.
  • Partner with community, non-profit, and government agencies focused on affordable housing programs or minority communities.
  • Stay informed of industry regulations and governmental requirements related to CRA housing needs.
  • Complete yearly compliance training and testing, adhering to bank, federal, and state regulations.
  • Comply with bank policies and procedures and adhere to departmental service standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in residential mortgage sales preferred.
  • 2-4 years of residential loan processing, loan origination experience, or housing counseling experience with a financial institution, mortgage banking company, or not-for-profit agency.
  • Advanced communication skills, both verbal and written, across a broad range of audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve sales goals and objectives while developing a positive customer experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Extensive knowledge of mortgage loan products, conventional loan structures, and Federal and State regulations.
  • National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration required.
