About the position

The Community Development Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the Construction / Licensing Division within the Community Development Services Department. This role involves performing management, supervisory, and administrative duties, ensuring effective operations, and providing excellent customer service to the public. The manager will lead departmental personnel, handle licensing and building services, and maintain a positive image of the City while addressing community needs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform management, supervisory, and administrative duties within the Construction / Licensing Division.
  • Provide customer service to the public, residents, businesses, and other agencies.
  • Conduct monthly reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with budget preparation for the Community Development Services Department.
  • Create goals and objectives for the Construction / Licensing Division.
  • Monitor and maintain office supply purchases according to budget policies.
  • Generate and mail various documents, including licenses and notices, to customers.
  • Create and maintain checklists, how-to guides, and applications for the division.
  • Coordinate staff activities to ensure efficient office operations.
  • Oversee daily operations, delegating authority and responsibilities to staff.
  • Identify solutions to improve administrative and procedural operations.
  • Enforce policies and procedures to enhance office efficiency.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff within the department.
  • Complete annual evaluations for staff in the Construction / Licensing Division.
  • Recommend hiring, promotion, discipline, and termination of staff as necessary.
  • Educate the public on processes and procedures for the division.
  • Handle escalated customer service and permitting issues.
  • Process online applications and manage licensing documentation and fees.
  • Generate reports on licensing and compliance activities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 5 to 7 years of responsible customer service experience.
  • Extensive supervisory experience in business tax receipts, customer service, and permitting.

Nice-to-haves
