About the position

The Community Director at Pecan Gardens is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the property, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering a positive living environment for residents. This role involves managing staff, handling budgets, and maintaining property standards while promoting the mission of Volunteers of America Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Hires, trains, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines all staff.
  • Manages the property office staff and functions, ensuring all bookkeeping, marketing, and lease preparations are performed as required.
  • Supervises social service coordinator and function.
  • Assists in budget preparation for the property.
  • Markets the property in accordance with Fair Housing and management agent's guidelines.
  • Submits reports as required by the management agent or mandated by federal, state, or local government.
  • Maintains office files for all business and financial records, properly credits the computer, and deposits all monies received.
  • Inspects property daily to ensure building and grounds are properly maintained and takes or suggests any actions needed for repair.
  • Responds to all resident requests and complaints.
  • Promotes an organizational culture that fosters a passion for the mission, cooperation, open and frequent communication, and teamwork.
  • Attends all required meetings and trainings, including mandatory attendance at the Volunteers of America National Conference for required housing training and regional training as required.
  • Performs other duties and special assignments as directed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent plus one year of property management experience.
  • Knowledge of regulations, acts, guidelines, etc., pertaining to conventional and affordable properties.
  • Valid Texas driver's license, clear MVR, and ability to be insured.

Nice-to-haves

  • Project-based Section 8 experience preferred.
  • Professional certification preferred (CMH, ARM, CAM, RAM).
