As a Community Disaster Program Manager at the American Red Cross, you will play a pivotal role in guiding, leading, and supporting teams of trained volunteers to deliver comfort and care during times of disaster. This position is integral to ensuring that the communities served are prepared to respond effectively to disasters. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining a foundation of continuous and robust volunteer engagement, utilizing established processes and collaborating closely with volunteer services staff. Your work will directly impact the lives of individuals and families affected by disasters, as you will help ensure that disaster cycle services are delivered in a rapid, accessible, and equitable manner, particularly to frontline communities. In this role, you will empower volunteers by facilitating and supporting a diverse team responsible for implementing volunteer-led disaster cycle services programming. You will assist with the successful implementation of specific disaster cycle services program activities within your assigned geographic area. Engaging disaster volunteers, who represent the communities they serve, will be a key focus, as will supporting local efforts to prepare and mobilize communities for disaster response and recovery. You will act as the local point of contact for partners and communities, collaborating with local organizations and leaders to enhance community resiliency before, during, and after disasters. Additionally, you will participate in disaster response operations in alignment with the Disaster Cycle Services Concept of Operations, ensuring that you meet all training and physical capacity requirements for deployment. This position requires a commitment to continuous learning and skill development, as regional disaster employees are expected to deploy to disaster relief operations outside of their region at least once a year. Your contributions will not only help in immediate disaster response but also in building long-term community resilience and preparedness.
