As a Community Disaster Program Manager, you will supervise the implementation of the disaster services program in an assigned geographic area, leading and supervising a team of Disaster program staff and volunteers responsible for local preparedness, response, and recovery management. Your role will involve working closely with volunteers to ensure that the communities you serve are ready to respond to disasters. This position requires a commitment to continuous disaster response, with regional disaster employees expected to deploy to disaster relief operations outside of their region at least once a year. These deployments are crucial for skill building, career development, and exposure to various types of disasters. Allowances may be provided for personal circumstances and local response activities, and employees must meet all training and physical capacity requirements for deployment. In this role, you will empower volunteers by managing and supporting a team responsible for implementing volunteer-led disaster services programming throughout the assigned geographic area. You will also lead the program by supervising employees and implementing disaster cycle services activities. Your responsibilities will include developing and supporting disaster volunteers who represent the communities they serve, engaging with community partners to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters, and acting as the local Red Cross disaster subject matter expert. You will initiate and coordinate disaster relief operations in alignment with the Disaster Cycle Services Concept of Operations, ensuring that the Red Cross maintains a strong presence and engagement within the community.
