As a Community Disaster Program Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring effective collaboration with Volunteer Services and engaging partners across all communities within your assigned geographic area. Your primary responsibility will be to identify, mobilize, and engage these partners while assessing current readiness resources, facilities, supplies, and local vendors to address any gaps in disaster preparedness. You will work closely with volunteers to ensure that the communities you serve are well-prepared to respond to disasters, thereby contributing to the overall mission of the American Red Cross. In this position, you will be required to deploy to disaster relief operations outside of your region at least once a year. These deployments are not only essential for disaster response but also serve as opportunities for skill building and career development, exposing you to various types of disasters. You will need to meet all training and physical capacity requirements for deployment, and allowances may be provided for personal circumstances and local response activities. Your role will involve leading and supporting a diverse volunteer team responsible for implementing disaster cycle services programming throughout your assigned area. This includes functional activities such as mass care, response, community preparedness, recovery, and planning and readiness. You will also be tasked with developing and supporting disaster volunteers who represent the communities they serve, ensuring that they are culturally and linguistically aligned with the populations they assist. Additionally, you will engage with community partners to prepare and mobilize communities for disaster response and recovery. As the Red Cross disaster subject matter expert in your area, you will maximize the organization's presence and community engagement, prospecting and partnering with local organizations and leaders to enhance community resiliency before, during, and after disasters. Your ability to initiate and coordinate disaster relief operations will be vital in ensuring that the Red Cross can effectively respond to emergencies in your assigned geographic area.
