About the position

The Community EMT position at Williamson County involves providing comprehensive assessments, education, and care coordination for patients frequently utilizing Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Reporting to the Community Paramedic Captain, the EMT will advocate for patients, ensure proper documentation, maintain equipment, and provide training to field employees. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care and the ability to work in high-pressure environments.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of assigned patients.
  • Develop goals and choose treatment methods for patient care.
  • Coordinate advanced care with Community Paramedics as needed.
  • Serve as a patient advocate and promote cost-effective services.
  • Maintain and complete records and reports for the Community Paramedic Program.
  • Ensure vehicles and equipment are adequately stocked and in working order.
  • Provide training and guidance to field employees on patient identification and referral.
  • Educate at-risk patients on community resources.
  • Attend meetings, conferences, and training sessions to stay current on EMS practices.
  • Maintain compliance with National Incident Management System (NIMS) and credentialing by the Medical Director.

Requirements

  • EMT Certification from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Two years of EMT experience.
  • Working knowledge of EMS operations, systems, and procedures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduation from an accredited EMT program.
  • Community Health Worker certification.
  • Five years of experience as an EMT.
