About the position

The Community Engaged Health Equity Research Professional will play a vital role in supporting community-based participatory research projects focused on health equity, particularly concerning dementia and aging among minoritized racial and ethnic groups. This position involves collaboration with community organizations and research partners, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative research methods to translate findings into actionable programs and policies. The role offers substantial opportunities for hands-on experience in health equity research within a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing study activities, including defining variables and formulating hypotheses.
  • Adapt or work out the details of new, nonstandard procedures with general guidance.
  • Support various Advisory Boards by facilitating meetings and coordinating logistics.
  • Interpret, synthesize, and analyze data using scientific or statistical techniques.
  • Solve problems and make decisions affecting the direction of the research.
  • Select and apply standard calculations and formulas to compile data or process documents.
  • Contribute significantly to qualitative data analysis and synthesis.
  • Attend and contribute to community meetings and events, serving as a liaison between projects and community partners.
  • Co-author sections of research publications and regulatory reports as needed.
  • Complete project-related administrative and budgetary responsibilities as needed.
  • Supervise staff or students, providing oversight and instruction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts degree in an applicable social science related field and two years applicable experience, or a combination of education and experience in an applicable social science.
  • Comprehensive understanding of scientific theory and methods.
  • General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs.
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent judgment.
  • Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance.
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to complete detailed work accurately.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with human study participants.
  • Developing supervisory skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • MPH, MS, or similar education and experience preferred.
  • Experience with community-based research and public health programs.
  • Fluent in Spanish.
  • Qualitative research methods and facilitation experience preferred.
