About The Position

The Community Engagement and Education Specialist (CEES) at UC San Diego plays a vital role in supporting community-engaged educational programs, particularly through the ROOTED Pedagogy Program and the AGILE Network. This position focuses on facilitating hands-on learning and data-driven research opportunities for students and community partners, emphasizing sustainability and social justice. The CEES will manage and evaluate these programs, provide direction to student teams, and collaborate with various academic disciplines to enhance educational outcomes and community impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Communication, Urban Studies, Education).
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering community educational programs.
  • Experience leading complex team-based efforts across multiple disciplines.
  • Knowledge of educational program content and objectives.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to conduct needs assessments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate, grow, manage, and evaluate the ROOTED Pedagogy Program and the AGILE Network.
  • Provide work direction to student teams from multiple courses at UC San Diego.
  • Design, implement, and refine curriculum components integrating feedback from students and community participants.
  • Connect with UC San Diego's Seventh and Eighth Colleges and maintain communication with Provosts.
  • Coordinate with faculty across disciplines to foster convergence research opportunities.
  • Design training components for Undergraduate Instructional Assistants and interns in data science and community engagement.
  • Leverage evaluation resources to ensure program innovation and responsiveness.
